2024 Easter Goodies in Pittsburgh

Peter Cottontail is hopping his way down the bunny trail as we quickly make our way towards Easter 2024. With the holiday right around the corner, and barely any time to recover from Saint Patrick’s Day, there’s much to do. Eggs need dying, Easter baskets need to be made, and most importantly, the ham needs to be done before the in-laws are over. Instead of stressing, give yourself a break and pass the goodie-making to the wonderful bakeries and chocolate-makers around the city of Pittsburgh. From intricately made cakes and pies to adorable bunny-shaped decorated cupcakes and traditional hot cross buns, these bakeries are sure to bring joy and deliciousness to your holiday table.

Sarris – Chocolates

We’d be lying if we said that biting into a Sarris Chocolate Bunny on Easter morning still brings a smile to our faces. Whether you’re stuffing an Easter basket for your children or decorating the dessert table, Sarris has the most decadent chocolates to get your fill. This year they even have a BashEgg that comes with a mini wood hammer to smash open the chocolate egg full of chocolate mini pretzels and jelly beans.

Enrico Biscotti – Ricotta Pie

For Italians, a Ricotta Pie is a crucial part of the Easter table setting. At Enrico Biscotti, their “Italian cheesecake” is made with sweetened ricotta filling atop a pasta frolla crust. It’s a bit less sweet than your traditional cheesecake and has a lighter texture. These pies are available only at the store in the Strip District and can be ordered up until March 27.

A Sweet Morsel Co. – Easter Cupcakes

If you’re having a gathering, it’s good to have the widely beloved cupcakes on hand. A Sweet Morsel Co. takes the cute treat game up a notch with Easter decorations that are entirely edible. Get the Easter Cupcakes Sampler for an array of bunny, chick, and Easter egg and grass field designs. They come in half chocolate and half vanilla with a mix of white cake and chocolate fudge icing.

La Gourmandine – Gâteau Vert

From March 18 to March 31, you can pick up Claude Monet’s favorite birthday cake for the perfect spring-time-themed dessert. Gâteau Vert layers pistachio mousse with pistachio génoise and marzipan layers for a nutty, lemony surprise. The cake is even decorated with Easter egg toppers for some extra holiday spirit.

Oakmont Bakery – Hot Cross Buns

These fluffy, Hot Cross Buns are made with sweet fruits and marked with a cross to represent Jesus’ crucifixion. In Oakmont Bakery’s version of this traditional baked good you’ll find glazed orange and lemon peel and glazed strawberries or a version with raisins. Just be sure to order by March 26 to get your buns before Easter.

Milkshake Factory – Chocolates

Make sure the chocolate you purchase this holiday is rich and creamy, made with the finest cocoa. The Milkshake Factory has been making chocolates since 1914 and it shows in their deliciously perfected recipe. Choose from chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate-dipped strawberries, various barks, gourmet gift sets, and much more.

The Speckled Egg – Easter Quiche

Explore outside of your normal hard-boiled eggs for Easter breakfast or brunch. Instead, try a savory baked good to surprise your family this year. The Speckled Egg has whole quiches available to order by March 22 for pick up on March 29 and 30. The quiches come in delectable Bacon, Cheddar, Chive, Mushroom, Onion, or Arugula flavors, all with a biscuit crust.

Gaby et Jules – Macarons

Hop into the spring season and celebrate Easter with pastel-colored macarons. These little wonders are made from scratch using French techniques to make sure you get the most authentic macaron possible. Gaby et Jules’ Signature Collection includes the flavors Lemon, Earl Grey, Pistachio, Rose, Sea Salt Caramel, and Coffee.
