We can’t wait to see all the young people in your life at Carnegie Museum of Art and Natural History Summer Camps, as well as Inside Out, Carnegie Museum of Art’s free summer event series celebrating Pittsburgh’s rich cultural landscape on Thursday evenings and Saturdays beginning June 15. What I love about these summer programs for youth and families is how they activate the museum as a space for people across the Pittsburgh region to connect through art. Connection and community for young people and adults support our well-being, sense of self, and collective-meaning making. I am excited to share three other amazing places where learning, self-expression, joy, and community building are at the core of youth programming.
Summer Programs for Kids in Pittsburgh
Youth Art Studio Summer Sessions at Carnegie Museum of Art, Grades 9–12
Do you have a young artist interested in pursuing a career in the arts? Bring them this summer for Youth Artist Studio, an immersive program for students in grades 9–12 to deepen personal art practices. Our team of experts is ready to help artists through an exciting and rigorous journey of creativity. You’ll have the chance to explore various subjects and processes while getting inspired by the museum’s collection and new exhibitions.
Assemble Summer Camps, Grades 1–9
Assemble is where imagination and creativity take a wild ride with science, technology, fashion, art, engineering, and community building. Each week at Assemble Summer Camps has a different theme and age group focus where each young person finds an experience of collective freedom as they develop their creative expression.
Legacy Arts Project Summer Program, Ages 6–13
Dance, drum, garden, paint, sew, braid, and locate your joy in the tradition of Africana Arts! Legacy Arts Project is a place where the community is always growing, and learning is for our well-being, our histories, and the honoring of the diverse cultural practices throughout African diasporic traditions.
Girls+ Rock! Pittsburgh Summer Day Camp, Ages 10–18
Yes, grrrrrrrrl!!! Let’s make music. I’ll be the lead singer, you’ll play the drums. How about we learn it all, together?! This, my friends, is what Girls Rock is all about. And then after a week of music collaboration, of course, there is a rockin’ showcase. I will be there showing off my dance moves.
