The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh (JCC of Greater Pittsburgh) is one of the largest social service, recreational and educational organizations in the region.
JCC of Greater Pittsburgh
For more than 129 years, the JCC has enriched our community by creating an environment rooted in Jewish values. They strengthen the physical, intellectual and spiritual well-being of individuals and families.
Comprehensive programming includes child care and preschool, after-school and school’s-out programs, day and overnight camping, senior adult activities, fitness and wellness programs, special needs and inclusion services, arts and cultural activities including a nationally -accredited Jewish museum and scores of programs for all ages and interests.
The JCC is guided by its mission of nurturing people and connecting community through jewish values. They strive to activate community to build a stronger and more inclusive future, redefining what’s possible.
Meeting the Needs of Older Adults
The JCC’s AgeWell at the JCC has long provided services to address unmet needs and
combat isolation of senior adults within the community, supporting older adults in
maintaining autonomy, quality of life, and dignity. There’s a robust programming of senior fitness classes and learning, socialization and enrichment activities. Plus, AgeWell at the JCC South Hills now offers daily Kosher style lunches. In the past year, more than 23,000 lunches were provided to seniors in Squirrel Hill and South Hills.
Fitness and Wellness for Everybody
The JCC, recognizing the diversity of ages, needs, interests and abilities in the community, strives to encourage the well-being of each individual by offering a huge and growing menu of fitness and wellness classes such as Group Power, DEKA functional fitness, SilverSneakers, yoga, Pilates, spinning, HIIT and aquatic fitness.
Inclusion
Serving campers from 30 municipalities throughout Allegheny County, the JCC continues its effort to become a regional leader in out-of-school-time inclusion services. The JCC summer Day Camps last summer served approximately 190 neurodiverse children from 96 schools, more than double the number from five years prior.
Fighting Antisemitism
At a time of growing antisemitism, the JCC is hosting the 2025 JCC Maccabi Games®—an Olympic-style sports competition for Jewish teens—August 3-8, 2025, with more than 2,000 participants. This will be the first time that participants, ages 13-17, stay and play on a college campus. This first-of-its-kind model, thanks to partnership with the University of Pittsburgh, will allow athletes competing in the Games to use university housing and athletic facilities. At a time when many college campuses feel unsafe for Jewish students, the JCC Maccabi Campus Games will provide Jewish teens the opportunity for positive experiences of Jewish life on a college campus and will provide the University of Pittsburgh and the entire Pittsburgh region with the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to standing up against antisemitism and fostering a climate of inclusivity.
