Whenever the middle of November rolls around, much of the city of Pittsburgh finds itself in wrapped in sparking, shining lights as well as ribbons and bows in flashy green and red. Phipps Conservatory over in Oakland is no exception as their Winter Flower Show for 2025 takes over. Starting on November 14 through January 4, you can step into a wonderland of shimmering bulb, cold season blooms, holiday characters, and plenty of other stunning decor.

Phipps Conservatory Winter Flower Show 2025
The theme for 2025’s Phipps Holiday Magic show is Wild Winter. In order to bring this idea to life, they’re filling all their gardens with amaryllis, orchids, poinsettias, and hydrangeas. Plus, you’ll find various displays that create winter scenes which incorporate the inside and outside of Phipps.
To start your journey, take in the Winter Light Garden that surrounds the landscapes of the conservatory. If you happen to visit once the sun sets, you’ll get an extra special treat since most of this garden glows in one way or another. Look around at blue lights along with snowflakes, snowballs, and other silver touches that form into an archway.

Waiting Behind the Doors…
Then, once you head inside Phipps, you’ll travel through floral scenes that depict different animals celebrating the winter season. Watch penguins play with snowballs, sled down hills, and build their own snowmen, too. See cardinals decorating an 11-foot tree while topiary reindeer and polar bears explore the grounds around them. You can Even head under the sea to find an octopus chandelier and an interactive clam shell hanging out in their own way.

Not to mention, the kiddos will love stopping at the new Garden Railroad: The Age of Dinosaurs exhibit. The railroad room gets a makeover featuring dinosaurs from the Jurassic Period in each part of the display. You can walk around the whole railroad to find the volcano with hot lava, waterfall with rising steam, as well as plenty of plants from the Cretaceous Period.
Outside of what you’ll find every day at Phipps Conservatory during their winter show, this facility also holds events to get you as closely involved as possible. Some of the highlights from the season that you can look forward to are features from the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, sensory inclusive visits, and exclusive holiday markets. But, with or without a special program, you’ll still find yourself immersed in a dreamy winter wonderland.
