2025’s Hottest Retail, Restaurant, and Other Openings in Pittsburgh

New year, new places to shop and eat. 2025 brings a host of new Pittsburgh openings, from supermarkets and coffeeshops to clothing stores and restaurants. Realtor and Pittsburgh man-about-town Herky Pollock helped us out with our 2024 list, and going into the new year, we’re keeping our eye on what 2025 holds.

2025’s Hottest Retail, Restaurant, and Other Openings in Pittsburgh

Capozoli’s Trattoria

South Side

Cucina Vitale recently moved from East Carson Street to Green Tree, but South Siders can still get their Italian food fix at Capozoli’s, a new Trattoria opening up in the same spot. No opening date has been announced yet, but this promises to be a fun new neighborhood spot!

Whisper

Downtown

This intimate wine and dessert bar “designed to captivate the senses” and that it “blends timeless sophistication with contemporary allure,” according to managing partner Scott Shaffer. Their focus is on what makes life great–booze and sweets, so what’s not to love?

EmTree Bath and Body

South Side

Retail on East Carson Street needs a refresh, and EmTree Bath and Body picked South Side for its first brick and mortar location. If you loved their products at the Sewickley May Mart or Love Pittsburgh, you’ll now get to enjoy even more soap, candles, and natural-ingredient body products from this LGBT-owned boutique.

Dad’s Dog and Burger

Bloomfield

Just down the road from Brothmonger, another cozy new business is opening up on Liberty Avenue. (Sarah Coppolo of Brothmonger will be providing the chili fro their chili dog and chili burger, and the two owners are friends). April 12th is the grand opening!

Isaly’s

Strip District

If you’re nostalgic for Isaly’s ice cream and cold cuts, 2025 is your lucky year. This juggernaut of Pittsburgh desserts will be returning to the Strip this year at at 2111 Penn Ave.

Hey Babe

East Liberty

Miss the Ace Hotel bar? Something new is coming. Two hospitality veterans, Danielle Cain and Rob Hirst, are planning a new watering hole in what’s now the Maverick Hotel. Hey Babe will be an upscale but friendly bar with a classic romantic vibe. They write “It’s a term of endearment, the beginning of a conversation, and now a new throwback lounge coming to the heart of East Liberty.”

Vietnam Vietnam 9

Oakland

Oakland is a hotbed of late-night comfort food businesses. This soon-to-be open storefront advertises large portions of pho, banh mi, bun bo hue, com dia, bun, chao, heo kho, and bo kho. It would be a welcome addition to an area of Oakland with few sit-down restaurants, off of South Bouquet Street going towards Four-Mile Run.

Shibam Coffee Co

Oakland

This long-awaited Yemeni coffeeshop has one thing Pittsburgh has been sorely missing: later hours. If you’re not in the mood for a bar, but want to be out past 9PM, Shibam has coffee and tea as well as snacks and small plates of all kinds.

A Taste of Mariam’s

Polish Hill

The “ghost kitchen” on Melwood Avenue that’s home to fan favorite takeout businesses like El Colibri is getting a new business: and it’s 24 hours. In today’s restaurant scene, 24-hour anything is rare, let alone a 24-hour soul food place. Though it will be takeout only, this promises to be a great new late night bite spot.

Palm Palm

Shadyside

This brand new project from Herky and Lisa Pollock will take inspiration from Slim Aarons’ photography of the West Coast. In the dismal Pittsburgh winters, this is a much needed addition. Chefs Ed and Amanda Harris will be contributing to this tapas-style menu at this must-see restaurant opening, set for fall 2025.

Wings Over

South Side

Wings Over left South Side, but will be moving back to East Carson Street in the former Cancilla’s space. This addition would be a great fuel-up for a night out on the South Side, carb and protein heavy wings to make sure you’re enjoying responsibly. No date has been set yet!

F&F Pizza

Mt. Lebanon

Famed New York pizzeria F&F, which gets its name from its founders Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo, better known as “The Franks,” will be coming to Pittsburgh. The pair had decades’ worth of connections to the Pittsburgh area and wanted to bring their pizza here. This is sure to be one of the best openings of 2025, projected for spring!

Nan Xiang

South Side

Nan Xiang is aa trendy Northern Chinese restaurant based out of New York that will open on March 5 in the Box Office Area of South Side Works. They’ll have soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, and other classic Chinese dishes.

Burghers Brewing

Millvale

This South Side-based brewery and burger joint is forging north to new frontiers in Millvale. This new opening serves as a flagship location, located in a former bank on Grant Avenue and now open to the public. Owner Fiore Moletz is concerned about tariffs associated with buying kegs under President Trump’s administration, so all the more reason to grab a brewski fast and support a local business.

Orr’s Jewelers

Strip District

Orr’s is planning an expansion of their showroom into the space beside Balvanera in the Strip District. Leslie Gordon of Orr’s Jewelers will get to work a little closer to home with her family business’s recent plans to expand into The Strip District’s Terminal space. Gordon, who runs Orr’s with her mother and father, and sister Aliza, lives in the Strip. They plan to have their store open in fall 2025, with brands like Cartier, Rahaminov Diamonds, Pomellato and more.

GetBlok Farms

The Terminal, The Strip District

Getting healthy food within the city limits just got easier! If you don’t want to drive out to Aliqiuippa for fresh produce, GetBlok Farms will be opening their new “Veggie Vault” in The Terminal shopping center in the Strip District.

Fresh International Market

Point Breeze

Pittsburgh will be getting a new supermarket, Pennsylvania’s very first Fresh International Market chain. Fresh International Market is a grocery store chain that stocks, as the name suggests, authentic ingredients from around the world, particularly Asia. This Rockwell Park development will be another food source in a neighborhood that otherwise has few options for supermarkets. So, it will be a great change when it opens on April 1! It will also have a new location of beloved Vietnamese coffeeshop Ineffable Ca Phé.

Afters Cafe

Squirrel Hill

Though little information is available about it, this café will be opening in The Refillery’s former location. (If you miss The Refillery, you can find it in Oakmont!) From the name, we wonder if this is going to be a late-night coffeeshop, which would be a welcome addition to Pittsburgh.

1659

Cranberry

This combination of a flower shop, a café, and a boutique clothing store is straight out of a romcom. Café Conmigo, Blooms, and Straight Line Boutique joined forces to share one space in Cranberry where you can get all your cozy-yet-upscale vibes. 1659 will be the café’s second location, their first is in Wexford, and the boutique’s second location, and it will be Blooms’ first brick and mortar location.

Café Conmigo (PIT Airport)

PIT Airport

As well as their expansion into Cranberry, Café Conmigo will join a host of new retailers and restaurants that will be new additions to the redesigned Pittsburgh airport. They’re one of the only locally-owned specialty coffeeshops in the new airport and are excited to share their coffee with travelers.

Titusz

Lawrenceville

From Chef Csilla Thackray, this Austro-Hungarian restaurant will be opening up in the former Merchant Oyster Co spot on Butler Street. Csilla has been a chef at Fet-Fisk, The Vandal, and Churchview Farms, so we are excited to see her open her new restaurant. Read our exclusive interview with Csilla, as well.

Aritzia

Ross Park Mall

A number of new shops are opening up in Ross Park Mall in 2025, including this “everyday luxury” women’s clothing store originally from Vancouver, Canada. As of right now, the nearest Aritzia is in Columbus, so its addition to the North Hills will be a boon for for shoppers looking for high-quality womenswear.

Whisker Wonderland

Bellevue

For cat lovers, as of January 2025, Pittsburgh now has its second cat café. Designer and artist Anna Montano decided she wanted to create a community space where people can spend time with cats and relax. If you want, you can also take home a new furry friend. Whisker Wonderland gets support from Conquer the Colony, a non-profit women-run cat rescue in Pittsburgh.

The Bocce House

641 Alpha Dr

Open now! Pittsburgh’s Italian community can find a true home in The Bocce House. This new bocce court wonderland has all you could desire from six professionally designed courts to a cigar lounge and even a self-serve beer and wine system. Don’t forget to grab a bite to eat before you leave to create the ultimate night-out experience. Plus, look forward to college football nights and other exclusive events.

Thee Hemp Company

Allentown

Up over top of Mount Washington and down on East Warrington Avenue you’ll find the city’s newest hemp shop. A world of relaxation awaits with shelves of high-quality CBD and THC hemp products like smoke-ables, gummies, beverages, and much more. Plus all products are third party lab tested and completely legal for those without a medical card. Stop in so owner Spring can pick you out something special.

Cork & Crust

Oakland

Later this year, Chef Kristin Butterworth returns to Pittsburgh to open her new project, Cork & Crust. Taking a place in The Oaklander Hotel, Cork & Crust is bringing you all the homemade Italian food you love with local, sustainable ingredients. Plus, you can explore their extensive wine list inspired by the Italian eats.

Poulet Bleu

Lawrenceville

This beloved French bistro is back and are officially reopen for service as of October 21! Freshness and quality are key for Poulet Bleu in Lawrenceville. Hurry in to bask in their authentic cuisine featuring delicious cocktails, Escargot, French Onion Soup, and of course their Chocolate Soufflé.

Giant Eagle Market District

East Liberty

The new Giant Eagle opening on the corner of Shady Avenue and Penn Avenue finally starts service on November 6. Not only will residents be able to grab all their groceries but they’ll also enjoy a Giant Eagle Pharmacy inside the store along with other shops available in the connecting buildings.

Barnes and Noble

East Liberty

By the end of the fall season, a new Barnes and Noble will open in East Liberty right next door to the new Giant Eagle Market District. Shelves and shelves of books as well as a cafe await customers who enjoy books, movies, music, and more.

Cava

Oakland and East Liberty

Pittsburgh’s first and second Cava locations come to Oakland and East Liberty to deliver delicious and healthy Mediterranean bowls and beyond. While the Oakland location is currently open, you’ll have to wait a little longer for the East Liberty location. Nevertheless, look forward to their fully customizable menu.

Bruster’s Ice Cream

Shadyside

Besides Millie’s, Shadyside residents now have a new ice cream shop to indulge in. Right on Center Avenue is Bruster’s featuring premium ice cream and freshly baked waffle cones made on site. Stop in to try over 32 flavors of creamy delightfulness. They even have dairy-free options as well as sherbets too.
