Pittsburgh Coffee Week has a packed schedule this year, from coffee-themed tattoos to dog-friendly coffee hours to an all-new coffee competition. It’s a whole week celebrating coffee in Pittsburgh! We’ve rounded up what’s on the docket for the week so you can decide where to go. Most days have a morning and an evening event, so if you really love coffee, make a whole day of it. Just maybe don’t have too much coffee after 6PM…

Coffee Events on Sunday, October 13
Sensory Experience
10AM-12:30PM, Dynamic Coffee Roasters (First Floor, 339 McKean St)
First-time Pittsburgh Coffee Week participant Dynamic Coffee Roasters presents a course on Palate Calibration, Aroma Training, and an Introduction to Coffee Processing and its effects in flavor. You’ll unlock the secrets to describing each coffee expertly using the renowned SCENTONE by-pass method.
Single Origin / Blend – Purebred or Mutt
3PM-6PM, James Café (2550 Smallman Street)
Bring your dog (aka emotional support animal) to the cafe and try James Café’s selections of single origins or house blends. Hear about the origins of their coffee while sharing tales of the origin of your dog! They will have puppuccinos for the pets.
Coffee Events on Monday, October 14
Coffee 101 Tasting
9AM-12M, The Coffee Village (801 Liberty Ave)
A coffee tasting of new additions to The Coffee Village’s select coffees from throughout the world. The Coffee Village will provide a “Coffee 101” handout and a raffle for a coffee and accessories basket to Pittsburgh Coffee Week attendees.

12PM-5PM, Dragon’s Roast Café (398 Perry Highway)
Board games and coffee day put this North Hills coffeeshop’s specialty dragon themed drinks on full display. The normal table fee is waived for Pittsburgh Coffee Week.
Coffee Events on Tuesday, October 15
Barista Reading
7PM-8PM (White Whale Bookstore, 4754 Liberty Avenue)
A reading where local writers and artists who are also booksellers and baristas can share their work. A drink special for the week will be highlighted during the event.
Coffee Events on Wednesday, October 16
Community Game Night and Tasting Experience
5PM-8PM, Merchant Coffee Co (922 Merchant Street)
Merchant Coffee Co is offering tastings of their house roast, decaf, nitro cold brew, and chai lattes. Additionally, they are debuting a coffee-beer collaboration with their neighbors at Fermata Brewing: A pumpkin brown ale with MCCo Roast. This will also be available as part of the tasting experience.
36th Anniversary La Prima Bar Reserve
5PM-7PM (La Prima AC Hotel, 205 21st Street)
A celebration of Pittsburgh coffee, the 36th anniversary La Prima Bar Reserve. This evening event will feature light fare, local music and a limited special drink menu, plus a limited edition drink special at all La Prima locations for the duration of Pittsburgh Coffee Week.

Coffee Class
11:30PM, 1:30PM Press House Coffee (595 Broad Street)
Spend time with Press House Coffee’s expert team discovering notes, flavors and processing styles of single origin coffees from around the world. This class meets you where you are, whether you’re already an expert or new to drinking coffee. Included in the class are baked goods from the cafe, beans to take home, and discounts on coffee subscriptions. Register on Eventbrite.
“Robot” Espresso
6PM-8PM, Smashed Waffles Oakland (3501 Forbes Avenue)
Scared about AI? Well, see it for yourself and experience the Eversys, a superautomatic espresso machine that makes specialty barista quality coffee! Smashed Waffles will also have free waffles to sample! Free and open to the public.

Coffee Tattoos
3PM-7PM (Field Day, 3706 Butler Street)
Field Day in Lawrenceville is hosting a tattoo artist who is offering Pittsburgh coffee-related flash tattoos. These tattoos could serve as conversation-starters about coffee, Pittsburgh, or both!
Coffee Cocktail Competition
5:30PM-8PM (De Fer Coffee and Tea, 2002 Smallman Street)
An all-new competition in Pittsburgh Coffee Week that showcases a featured coffee and local distilled spirit provided by De Fer. Competitors have one full week before the competition to create a signature beverage and present it to judges. Baristas, bartenders, and amateur enthusiasts are invited to sign up. Everyone is invited to enjoy delicious food, beverages, live music, and more!
Coffee Events on Saturday, October 19
Pour Over Festival
10AM-12PM (Trace Brewing, 4312 Main Street)
6-8 different shops and roasters from across the city set up a table at Trace Brewing for one morning and serve their coffee brewed pour over style for guests to sample.
Latte Art Throwdown and Vendor Market
5:30PM-8:30PM (Commonplace Coffee, 7314 Thomas Blvd)
A classic Pittsburgh Coffee Week favorite, the latte art throwdown at Commonplace Coffee Rockwell Park and a vendor market featuring local artisans in the Rockwell Park courtyard.
