Fresh from a headline-making, Tony Award®-winning run on Broadway, the Pittsburgh Public Theater presents Amy Herzog’s “crackling and persuasive” (The New York Times) adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic.
This gripping drama follows idealist Dr. Thomas Stockman, whose discovery of life-threatening contamination at his town’s lucrative new spa pits truth against corruption. His fight to expose the danger ignites bitter battles that tear through the community, testing friendships, family loyalties, and the price of integrity in a society where profit often trumps justice. A powerful environmental parable with sharp echoes of our modern political landscape.
This new version is a Drama Desk Award winner for Outstanding Adaptation, directed by Marya Sea Kaminski.
Accessibility: The production offers audio description, open captioning, wheelchair seating, signed performances, and assistive listening devices. Please check the schedule for specific accessible performance dates.
