Part of what makes the Garfield art crawl, also known as Unblurred, great is that it has something for everyone. Kids, adults, art aficionados, or first-time attendees can find something to enjoy. The party tends to start around 5PM and in the summer months blurs into nightlife. We’ve got your back for what’s opening, what’s closing, and where to go shopping or out dancing this month.

This Magic Moment – Danny Devine at Pullproof Studio
5112 Penn Avenue
Screenprinting workshop and exhibition space Pullproof Studio will put on a show memorializing the late artist and graffiti writer Danny Devine. The exhibition features prints and drawings by Devine, including acetone transfers, laser spaghetti lettering, and some never-before-seen archival materials.
Miguel Sague at Bantha Tea Bar
5002 Penn Avenue
Indigenous Taíno artist Miguel Sague, Jr shows his rainforest-influenced work at Bantha Tea Bar, accompanied by live music. Sague will offer both original paintings and prints for sale, along with copies of his Indigenous album Songs from the Stone Hoop and his book Canoa: Indigenous River Dream Journey.
Uncovering the Human Perception – Jaime Bird and Bill Karaffa at Irma Freeman Center for the Imagination

Jaime Bird, known for street photography as “sidewalk storyteller,” and figurative painter Bill Karaffa join together for Uncovering the Human Perception, a dual exhibition exploring existential themes about how we view ourselves and each other.

Paul Peng and Cole Modell – My Subject and F(Utility) / Utility at Bunker Projects
The double feature of Paul Peng and Cole Modell will come to an end this month to make way for what’s next. It’s always a treat to see these double shows at Bunker Projects, because you get to examine how each artist uses the space differently.
[RE]•MIXTAPE – SHADOW STYLE at Mixtape

If you’ve walked by Mixtape this past month, you’ve probably noticed the spraypaint and giant boombox on its awning. July First Friday is the last time to catch their graffiti and hip hop pop-up paying tribute to the Shadow Lounge venue, with a selection of local artists on display for its grand finale.

Open Studios at The Glass Circle

A hidden gem of Penn Avenue is Megan Shalonis and Cosmik Jest’s funky glassware studio, which opens to the public during each art crawl. The pair make custom jewelry and restore old stained glass. A great place to go for someone who has everything—maybe some cigarette-shaped earrings?
Myspace Nite at Brillobox
4104 Penn Avenue
For those who want to stay out late, Brillobox has its uber-popular early aughts Myspace Nite at 10PM featuring music by Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, Lady Gaga, Fall Out Boy and more. $10 cover to dance the night away.
