With the Summer Solstice on June 21, that means that June 22-28 is officially the first week of summer and events in Pittsburgh are heating up! Welcome the new season with a week full of fun for the whole family whether it’s letting your kiddo live their best DJ dreams or taking a Friday night as a date night at one of Pittsburgh’s most eccentric and intriguing museums.

Music Camp
June 22-26, August Wilson African American Cultural Center
Tweens and teens ages 10-16 can unlock their inner hip-hop artist by working with real-life professionals on music production, performance, and collaboration. Through four days, your kiddo will try out songwriting, beat-making, proper recording technique, as well as audio engineering-mixing and mastering with professional-grade equipment. The week also ends with a showcase performance of all they’ve learned.

Alice Waters-Inspired Farm to Table Dinner with Live Jazz
June 24, Con Alma
Join Con Alma for a special pairing series dinner that celebrates Alice Waters. You’ll dine on courses inspired by this California chef and creator of the farm‑to‑table movement. On top of the sustainable, local cuisine, you’ll also try wines from female California winemakers and hear from vocalist Katie Simone on stage.

Author Event: Grandma Joy and Me, Brad Ryan in Conversation with Grandma Joy!
June 25, Stay Gold Books
Meet Brad Ryan and his grandma, Joy. As Brad heals from the weight of his family trauma and Grandma Joy finds healing in life as well, the two start a seven year journey, traveling to all 63 US National Parks. The two come to Stay Gold Books to discuss their book Grandma Joy and Me: A Journey of Healing, One National Park at a Time and then sign copies for those attending.

Friday Night Special
June 26, Mattress Factory
Throughout the summer, on exclusive Friday evenings, you can head to the Mattress Factory to not only wander through the galleries but also enjoy live music. On June 26, Vireo and Astrology Now take to the garden with live performances as you dine on bites by 77 Club Pizza as well as sips by Allegheny City Brewing. Not to mention, your whole night only costs $14.99 for general admission or free to Mattress Factory members.

Dinner with New Friends: Pittsburgh

When was the last time you did something completely spontaneous? This dinner series groups together complete strangers for a fun night out where you’ll support local businesses and also make new friends in the process. All you have to do is sign up, and then the series books the reservation for you along with three to five other diners.
