Have you ever dreamed of belting out a ballad on the stage with a live band? With the newest entertainment concept in Pittsburgh, Mic Drop, you can become the rock star of your dreams thanks to bandeoke/karaoke, a killer cocktail menu, and plenty of other live music performances.
What to Expect From Pittsburgh’s New Entertainment Venue Mic Drop
Legacy Hospitality Partners brings Mic Drop to life on Pittsburgh’s North Shore right on North Shore Drive. It’s a part of their recent expansion project which has so far brought us The Plaza at North Shore, SugarBird, Shorty’s, and the soon-to-open Highball Social Club. Where Mic Drop differs from their other endeavors is that it focuses around the success of entertainment venues that immerse guests in the experience. While you can find your usual DJs, live bands as well as singers, and even dueling pianos on certain nights, you’ll also find a space that encourages you to be a part of the show yourself.
Step on up to join a live band for bandeoke where you choose the song and they play along. Grab tickets to the hottest up-and-coming acts locally and nationally. Or, simply dance the night away as the DJ spins the tunes of the season. No matter the night, the music finds you.
“It will be an ever-changing array of different forms of live entertainment,” explains Herky Pollock, President and CEO of Legacy Hospitality Partners. “Some will be played by professionals and others by those ‘looking to get discovered.’ Each visit could be materially different than the one before.”
For those wishing to have more of an early night rather than be out till 2 a.m., Mic Drop will also offer programming during the day and early evening. This means you can dress up, grab your girlfriends, share a couple cocktails at a table, then sing your heart out to Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar or House Tour by Sabrina Carpenter. Plus you can make it home by 10 p.m. for a good night’s sleep.
An Extensive Menu Alongside the Performances
Besides the musical aspect, Mic Drop is also building out a cocktail program that appeals to the aesthetic as much as it will to your senses. Legacy Hospitality Partners Ed Smith, Amanda Kiger, and Herky and Lisa Pollock are looking to make the design and menu connect on the same levels that their other restaurants Ritual House and Palm Palm do.
But, don’t worry, craft beers, wine, and non-alcoholic selections will also be available in plenty. The key here is having a little something for everyone.
“Like all of our venues we are hugely welcoming,” says Pollock. “It [the selections] will be both diverse and uniquely suited for the environment.”
The whole concept is meant as an escape, a venue that can take you far away just by walking through a door. After all, the whole purpose of this group’s ventures is to create lasting memories that stick in customer’s heads. Mic Drop is another way to bring the fantasy of the big city to our own smaller city.
“[A night at Mic Drop is] a total release!” says Pollock. “It will be a way to let loose and enjoy different variations of great music. One day you will be the audience and the next day, the performer.”
Opening dates and programming calendar TBA.
