About the Residency:

Pittsburgh‑based nonprofit 412 Food Rescue brings its nationally recognized food recovery model to Chautauqua Institution for a week of programming during The Future of Food: Climate, Technology and the Next Agricultural Revolution. The organization will reframe food waste and food insecurity not as two separate crises but as the same structural failure with a single, scalable fix.

Founded in 2015, 412 Food Rescue is the largest volunteer food rescue organization in the country, with 26,000+ volunteers. It has diverted more than 39 million pounds of food from the waste stream in Western Pennsylvania—the equivalent of 33 million meals—while mitigating over 83 million pounds of CO2 emissions.
