Walk amongst lively, vibrant, chalk drawings from 3D illusions to characters you know and love. You can even contribute to a community mural this year and check out local food trucks. 

Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall & Museum Celebration

Soldiers & Sailors’ annual Memorial Day Ceremony & Celebration honors those who serve our country with a day of activities and remembrance. All visitors will receive free admission to the museum and the chance to participate in games and contests for prizes. Plus, pick up a bite to eat too so you don’t leave hungry. 

Red, Wild & Blue Day

May 26, Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium

It’s a special enrichment day for both the animals at the zoo and veteran visitors alike. From May 17-26, all active duty, reservists, and veterans get free admission to the zoo whether they go alone or with their family. You’ll even get to participate in giveaways throughout the grounds when you head there on Memorial Day. 

South Hills Memorial Day Parade

May 26, Dormont to Mt. Lebanon Cemetery

In the memory of 1st LT. Thomas A. Bird, USMC, the 91st South Hills Memorial Day Parade starts at 10 a.m. on Brookline Boulevard. After, it proceeds to Pioneer Avenue through Dormont and finishes at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In case you’d like to contribute to the parade, you can purchase a raffle ticket for autographed Steelers’ icon Rocky Bleier gear through Memorial Day.

Lawrenceville’s Historic Memorial Day Parade and Service

May 26, Butler Street to Allegheny Cemetery Butler Street Entrance

Marching bands, local organizations, classic cars, and plenty of red, white, and blue decorate the streets of Lawrenceville for their Memorial Day Parade and Service. The parade kicks off on 36th Street at 10 a.m. then heads down Butler Street to Allegheny Cemetery. When the parade is over, grab a blanket and relax at the cemetery for a military memorial service and free family festivities to follow.
