The Lao Tizer Band with Chieli Minucci
July 24, Charity Randall Performance Plaza at Pittsburgh Playhouse
Join a high-energy ensemble at the Charity Randall Performance Plaza for a pick-me-up summer evening performance. This live show in collaboration with MCG Jazz features Lao Tizer on keys, Chieli Minucci on guitar, and Cheikh N’Doye on bass. You’ll hear a blending of rich textures, rhythms, and melodies that produce a genre-defying musical experience.

Mad About the Movies
July 24, Heinz Hall
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, led by Associate Conductor Jacob Joyce, invites you to an evening where iconic film moments come to life with only the sounds of the orchestra.. This series features legendary scores from classics like E.T., Harry Potter, Fantasia, The King’s Speech, and Amadeus. Arrive early for a pre-show party in the Heinz Hall Garden. Party with a DJ, food, and specialty drinks, all inspired by the venue’s history as the Loew’s Penn Theatre.

The Kip London Memorial Pittsburgh Blues & Roots Festival
July 25-27, Pittsburgh Shrine Center Pavilion
This three-day blues and roots celebration will honor the life and legacy of beloved Western Pennsylvania bluesman Kip London. This marks the first time this festival has been named after a performer. Come together for the posthumous release of London’s album, The Last Dance. Plus, hear from top local, regional, and national performers to support Band Together Pittsburgh and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.

Opening reception for Ben Schonberger: Hi-NRG
July 25, 707 Gallery in the Cultural District
Celebrate the opening of Ben Schonberger’s Hi-NRG multimedia exhibit. This collection draws directly from the visual aesthetics of the gay underground and the high-energy sounds by composer Patrick Cowley in the late 1970s. Schonberger’s pieces are woven from vintage print media, where imagery of authority and sexuality merge. The opening reception will feature music by DJ Josh Cozby to enhance the experience.

Hill District Arts Festival
July 26-27, 1800 Block Of Centre Avenue
The Hill District Arts Festival is a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of creativity, culture, and community in the heart of the Hill. All ages can look forward to a day packed with live entertainment from Charrelle and EPMD, local food trucks, unique vendors, and hands-on art activities for kids. It’s the perfect way to support the city’s talent while gathering with those you love.
