Giving Guide 2023: Providence Connections, Inc.

Providence Connections, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that serves Pittsburgh’s North Side communities by providing comprehensive education programs for both children and families. Our mission of strengthening families and enriching lives was honorably created by the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1994, and we strive to improve the quality of life for every individual and family we serve.

Providence Connections began with the Sisters of Divine Providence learning of the need for comprehensive support services to develop economic and family self-sufficiency throughout the Northside of Pittsburgh. Since then, Providence Connections has grown to encompass a plethora of programming to help parents and children learn and develop as individuals and a as a family unit.

Our organization works with children and families who find themselves facing hardships. Whether it be financial struggles, the need for parenting and child care assistance, or a desire for support, resources, and a sense of community, Providence Connections strives to meet each family where they’re at in order to understand them and their needs and assist them on becoming well-rounded, confident members of our community.

Providence Connections hosts a number of programs and resources, including but not limited to a child care program, the Northside Family Center, and resources to assist families with tangible and financial needs. Our childcare program is a STARS 4 facility that cares for children from infants to pre-K which includes Head Start and Pre-K Counts curriculums for eligible children. The Northside Family Center hosts adult education classes and offers donations of tangible items while also attempting to assist in financial needs of the families we serve.

Providence Connections can be found hosting numerous events throughout the year such as an Easter brunch, Halloween costume giveaway, Thanksgiving dinner for families, Santa Brunch, family outings to the Pittsburgh Zoo or a Pirates game, and a Back-to-School bash. At Providence Connections, we do more than providing assistance to families; we create exciting events to bring families together to enjoy these resources.

At Providence Connections, we don’t just provide things that are needed by our families: we strive to teach these families to become self-sufficient while assisting them in getting back on their feet with a firm foundation of educational programming and resources. Our mission is strengthening families and enriching lives, and Providence Connections works tirelessly each day to bring a sense of community and comfort to all who enter our doors.

Providence Connections is always looking to expand our network of individuals who are passionate about making an impact. We welcome you to visit our website, volunteer with us, or reach out to our organization to learn more about how you can get involved.
