A cookout is more than just grilling—it’s an opportunity for creativity, connection, and, most importantly, gourmet hot dogs. At our latest gathering, we took the humble hot dog and turned it into a global take on the classic cookout, exploring different regional flavors and toppings on the way.

We started with a solid foundation: organic beef hot dogs, Schaller & Weber German wieners, and a thoughtfully chosen vegan option. Everyone has their own take on what makes the perfect hot dog, and we wanted to embrace that spirit. However, instead of sticking to tradition, we played with condiments and toppings from international cuisines, creating unique dogs inspired by different cultures.

What made this event truly special was the chance to experiment. We encouraged guests to mix and match toppings to create their own signature hot dogs. Some went bold with unconventional combinations—wasabi and mango salsa? Sure! BBQ sauce and feta? Why not? The beauty of a cookout is in the ability to customize and discover new favorites. There are no wrong answers—just an open invitation to have fun and try something new.

This get-together concept needs no décor strategy: make the toppings your centerpiece. Set up a DIY station with a mix of classics and unexpected ingredients. Let guests bring their favorites—whether that’s homemade relish, a special hot sauce, or even something totally out of the box like grilled pineapple or truffle aioli. In the end, the best hot dog is the one made just the way you like it.

Build Your Own Gourmet Hot Dog
The Chicago Dog
Our favorite classic dog is loaded with mustard, chopped onions, relish, diced tomato, a pickle spear, sport peppers, and a sprinkle of celery salt. No ketchup allowed!
The German Dog
Try curry ketchup, sauteed onions & bell peppers, and sauerkraut. Don’t forget a side of crispy fried onions for a rich, tangy crunch.
The Mexican Dog
Head south with fresh pico de gallo, avocado slices, jalapeños, and a drizzle of crema. This combo offers vibrant flavors and a creamy finish.
The Japanese Dog
This fusion of umami and freshness is topped with teriyaki glaze, Japanese mayo, nori flakes, and pickled ginger.

The Korean Dog
A spicy-sweet masterpiece leans into Kewpie mayo, kimchi, crunchy chili oil, spring onions, and sesame seeds for a bold, punchy bite.
The Banh-Mi
We look to Vietnam’s famous sandwich styling for inspiration. Bring on Sriracha mayo, jalapeño, pickled carrots, and cilantro! Perhaps skip the bun and embrace a bit of baguette.
The Vegan Dog
Built on a plant-based sausage, topped with a medley of grilled vegetables, spicy mustard, and a fresh herb slaw.
