Celebrate the start of the Christmas season with an electric light show for the whole family. Dive into this story told through characters made from light about a young bird who gets lost at the North Pole just as Santa is preparing to deliver everyone’s presents. Plus, the whole show is set to classic holiday tunes that you look forward to each year. 

The Polar Express (3D)

November 29-December 24, Carnegie Science Center

Who needs a train ticket to the North Pole when you have Carnegie Science Center’s 3D showing of The Polar Express? On a gigantic 71-by-39-foot and with the help of a 49 speaker Dolby sound system, your little one will gaze in wonder as snowflakes seem to fall on their head. It’s an exciting new way to view this classic Christmas film.

Strauss and Puccini

November 29-December 1, Heinz Hall

Take your friends and family to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In this performance, audiences will venture into a celebration of Puccini’s greatest opera hits and selections from Strauss led by Music Director Manfred Honeck. 

Suite Life: A Celebration of Billy Strayhorn & Gene Kelly

November 30, Kelly Strayhorn Theater

This yearly celebration of Pittsburgh’s dance and music icons Billy Strayhorn and Gene Kelly is back at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater. Stop in for an evening filled with live jazz music, signature cocktails, and mingling with other enthusiasts. For this year’s show, musical director Hugo Cruz brings Latin percussion onto the stage directed by artist Pria Dahiya.
