Birding Pittsburgh’s Parks: Schenley Plaza

Urban birding can be just as exciting as spotting birds out in the country-scapes. You’ll have the opportunity to observe and identify various bird species, learn about their habitats, and appreciate the vital role parks play in supporting local wildlife. The birding walk is about a mile long through flat paved surfaces, sidewalks, and grass.

Mattress Factory, April 24

View and hear about the captivating work of Azza El Siddique at the Mattress Factory on the North Side. Attendees will delve into the artist’s creative process, explore the themes and inspirations behind her thought-provoking installations, and gain a deeper understanding of her artistic vision, all right from the source. Discover the stories woven within El Siddique’s Echoes to Omega exhibit, including themes of death and burial rituals, entropy, time, and migration.

Pittsburgh Playhouse, April 24-May 11

The creatives of Point Park University’s theatre program bring a family-friendly, multisensory adventure to the Pittsburgh Playhouse. Guided by a mystical symbolic staff, guests will traverse the four elemental realms of fire, earth, water, and air through audience interaction, dynamic music, live performance, and 360-degree visuals.

POGOH’s Le Tour de Donut

River Trails, April 26

Le Tour de Donut ushers in the spring season with a bike and donut tour. Participants can join fellow enthusiasts for a ride through Pittsburgh, exploring the city’s scenic river trails while tasting delectable donuts from beloved local bakeries along the way. You’ll have a three-hour window to complete the course, allowing for leisurely exploration and enjoyment.

Steel City Duck Derby

Allegheny Commons Park, April 26

The Steel City Duck Derby, held annually at Allegheny Commons Park, is a family-friendly fundraiser for Partners For Quality, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event features a Duck Festival with games, music, face painting, balloon art, and food trucks. The highlight is the rubber duck race on Lake Elizabeth, where thousands of rubber ducks compete for cash and other prizes.
