About the Exhibition:
Practices of Holding is a large‑scale, salon‑style exhibition featuring members of Sibyls Shrine—a national collective of Black artists who m/other. Curated by Jessica Gaynelle Moss, the installation honors ancestral and living matriarchs through portraits, written reflections, memory work, and collective altar‑building. It frames “matriarchy” as an active practice of enduring, witnessing, teaching, and carrying forward.
