Details: This fall, the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation presents a retrospective celebrating the Art and Science of Rafael Lucas Rodríguez Caballero, a Costa Rican botanist, artist, and educator. A rare talent who bridged science and art with equal devotion, Rodríguez left behind a body of work that includes botanical illustrations, jewelry designs, scientific writings, and satirical cartoons. The exhibition features original watercolors, notebooks, and hand-drawn studies, including many of the 1,000+ orchid illustrations he painted in the field. Visitors will encounter both the scientific rigor and artistic sensitivity that defined Rodríguez’s career.
