12 Events to Kick Off Pride Month in Pittsburgh

It may not be Pride Month quite yet (that starts on June 1) but we just can’t wait to celebrate the joy and inclusivity of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies. Take advantage of these pride events in Pittsburgh that are kicking off the party early and carrying us right into the month of June. Connect friends and neighbors through fun dance parties, city hikes, picnics, fashion shows, and so much more. It’s never too early to start showing off your pride!

Pride Fashion Show

MuseumLab, May 23

Strut your stuff and join in the power of inclusivity at the Pride Fashion Show. This event sponsored by MuseumLab, Hugh Lane, and the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh aims to amplify young LGBTQIA+ voices in these chaotic times. Take an evening to relax and cheer on those in the community for highlighting their identity and style.

9 Mile Run Pride Hike

Frick Park, May 25

Connect with a community of LGBTQIA+ individuals while getting some fresh air. Trip Leaders, Nichole and Ash will co-lead this trip through 9 Mile Run into Duck Hollow. Celebrate your identity throughout the hike while learning about the history behind the places you’ll see. The two-mile hike will venture through slag heaps with uneven terrain on the way back.

Bigger Gayer Picniq

Allegheny Commons West Park, May 26

Let’s party for pride with a picnic full of delicious food and lots of fun. Dig into a buffet with vegan options and enjoy beers, seltzers, and cocktails at small bars around the park. After you’re satisfied, dance the rest of the night away with DJ KK and DJ Winston T. There is even a VIP experience with two free drink tickets for those wishing to take advantage of the bars.

Steel City Drag Brunch

Aslin Beer Company, May 26

What better way to kick off Pride Month than with a drag brunch? Come out and see the finest queens of Pittsburgh put on a show you’ll never forget. As you tip these ladies and cheer them on, dine on Aslin Beer Company’s new brunch menu and drink specials. The evening is hosted by Luna Skye and Indie Skies so get ready for an afternoon full of glitter and big music hits.

P Town Pride Pageant

P Town, May 26

Are you the most fabulous person in Pittsburgh? Then you need to be competing in P Town’s Pride Pageant, or at least be watching on the sidelines. This year’s participants will be honoring 2023 Mr. P Town Pride winner, Joey Young.  Watch contestants show off their beauty and talents in a fight to be Mr./Mrs./Mx. P Town Pride. 

Wheel of Drag

Square Cafe, May 30

You’ve heard of a drag brunch but how about a drag dinner? Square Cafe’s Wheel of Drag brings out the city’s queens to compete in a game show where the wheel decides their song-singing fate. You can dine on Square Cafe’s menu while watching these fierce lip-syncers compete against each other. You never know what song might pop up with categories like “Queen’s Choice”, “Audience Choice”, and “Mystery.”

Pittsburgh Pride 2024

Various Locations, May 31-June 2

Who’s ready for three days of full out Pride Month celebration? Starting on Friday, May 31, over 30 artists will be performing featuring The First Ladies of Disco and Beyonce impersonator Riley Knoxx at Allegheny Commons Park. Then, June 1 starts off Pride Month with the annual Pride Parade Downtown and LGBTQIA+ artist performances at the park. Finally, June 2 finishes things off in Bloomfield with a block party full of live entertainment, food, and activities.

Pride on the Shore

Stage AE, May 31 and June 1

Let your queer flag fly at Pride on the Shore’s concert extravaganza. These two days feature inclusive artists across all backgrounds with a party meant for everyone. Friday will feature performances by Keke Palmer, Jojo Siwa, and Natasha Bedingfield while Saturday’s line-up includes Chappell Roan, Jess Glynne, and Slayyyter. Grab a drink and get ready to jump along to all your favorite tunes. 

Pride in the Sky

Il Tetto Rooftop Beer Garden, June 1

Watch the pride celebrations from up high on Il Tetto’s Rooftop Beer Garden. Sit back and watch the parade below out of the crowded Downtown streets. The beer garden will also have themed drinks for purchase and giveaways throughout the afternoon before you head off to Pittsburgh Pride on the North Side. 

Drag Brunch

Fl.2, June 2

Get immersed in the Pride Month atmosphere with a Drag Brunch at Fl.2 in the Fairmont Hotel. You’ll be treated to two mimosas, a brunch entree of your choice, and an electrifying drag show. This show is all about love and diversity so bring your dollar bills and shower these drag performers in a storm of singles and fives. 

Loud and Proud Music Festival

Ormsby Avenue Cafe, June 2

Rock bands Lylyth and Sommelier are teaming up to bring you a music festival promoting LGBTQ+ talent in the Greater Pittsburgh and surrounding area. Watch over 10 performances while exploring vendor booths featuring crochet, jewelry artists, printmakers, and more. You can also grab a bite to eat from Catatouille who sells international plant-based street food. All proceeds benefit the Hugh Lane Wellness Foundation towards LGBTQIA+ wellness.

Honcho Pride Boat Party 

Gateway Clipper Fleet, June 3

A fist-pumping dance party on the three rivers is a must-attend event for all LGBTQIA+ Pittsburghers. Mike Servito and Jellyfish will be producing tunes all night long to keep the atmosphere going even after the pride festival has finished. Let the music whisk you away as you take in the beautiful skyline and lights of the city.
