Juneteenth is a day for all of us to come together to commemorate the end of slavery with parties, discussions, and friendly faces. In Pittsburgh, we have the honor of being home to the August Wilson African American Cultural Center that provides us with education on Black lives and history year round. But, when Juneteenth rolls around on June 19, the city explodes with vibrant events covering educational opportunities, a lively block party atmosphere, and much more. Dive into this schedule of Juneteenth events in Pittsburgh with something for everyone to not only show support for the Black community, but to also support local businesses and organizations in the process.

Swissvale Juneteenth Celebration
June 13, Les Getz Memorial Park
It’s a family-friendly celebration our at Les Getz Memorial Park. Join the Swissvale community in a day full of performances from The Franchise Band, Clement Payne, and The Bill Henry Band plus food truck vendors and a line of local businesses to shop through. The kids won’t be bored either as there are activities made especially for them all day long.
Juneteenth All Black Boat Party
June 18, Gateway Clipper Fleet
The Empress and the Duchess both set sail for Juneteenth with all black adorning the decks. Guests can enjoy a 21-and-older-only party with drink specials plus two live DJs on the Three Rivers. The best part is getting to party with the skyline around you all the way until 1:30 in the morning, guaranteeing a night to remember. Black clothing is not required but it’s always fun to dress on theme!
WPA Juneteenth Celebration
June 19-21, Downtown
Pittsburgh’s Juneteenth Celebration packs a weekend full of live music featuring Lloyd, Musiq Soulchild, as well as Fabolous, plenty of food vendors, educational resources, and fun for the whole family. As you travel from Point State Park to Market Square, you’ll find another lineup of musical artists as well as informational speakers. Then, on Liberty Ave you can check out the Small Business Vendor Plaza to help support local businesses in the area.

Looking for something a bit more laid back for Juneteenth? Ormsby Ave Cafe has you covered with a combination of R&B music and delicious food. Take a seat and kick back to artists WITAQ, SHUAA, Josh Anderson, Aryana Kapree, Nadee, and NAMI BEY. Plus be sure to take advantage of their good eats such as pizza, pub burgers and fries, dry rub wings, and more.
In Bed by Ten: Juneteenth
June 19, Spirit
There’s nothing wrong with wanting to get to bed by 10 p.m. but also wanting to experience the night life of Pittsburgh. Spirit hosts a special edition of their early-night dance party just for Juneteenth. HUNY XO along with DJ FEMI & YAMEZ start spinning R&B, hip-hop, and house music at 6 p.m. sharp so you can be out by 9 p.m. All ticket proceeds go towards Sibyls Shrine, a network of Black artists in Pittsburgh with a residency program that focuses on rest and support.
Pittsburgh’s Biggest 4th Annual Juneteenth Pool Party Experience
June 19, Olympic Swim and Health Club
Outside of regular swimming hours, you can join a pool party at Olympic Swim and Health Club that turns up the heat. Put on your best swimsuit and head to the pool for DJs and artist performances, water guns, a bikini contest, water games, additional activities, as well as food and business vendors to shop. If you don’t want the good vibes to stop, you can follow the celebration to an after-party that’ll have you out till 5 a.m., partying the right way.
5th Annual Stop the Violence Kickball Tournament
June 19, Renziehausen Park
Starting early in the morning and ending with a fireworks grand finale, Stop the Violence is back with their annual Kickball Tournament. Even if you’re not up to forming a team, there’s plenty to do besides watching the action. Browse through food vendors, snack on ice cream, get your face painted, enjoy live performances, and let the little ones play in bounce houses.
WPA Juneteenth: FABOLOUS All White After-Party
June 21, Enclave
After a weekend full of fun Downtown, head over to the South Side at one of Pittsburgh’s hottest clubs, Enclave. Fabolous is hosting his own after-party in an all white fashion. Who knows what friends he may bring along to continue the party even long after Point State Park closes. Dance as you explore the club’s bottle service, large dance-floor, as well as their booming sound and light systems.
