Get in Loser, We’re Seeing ‘Mean Girls’ by Pittsburgh CLO

Mean Girls is coming to Pittsburgh via the Pittsburgh CLO and we’re already planning our all pink outfit for the show. From July 7-12, the Benedum Center gets taken over by Cady, Janis, Damian, Regina, Gretchen, and Karen as the stage turns into North Shore High School. This version of Mean Girls is a musical. The songs and book were written by author, comedian, and actress Tina Fey. World Burn and Apex Predator, for example, tell the tale of a new girl trying to find her social squad in high school. It’s oddly relatable but absolutely hilarious and actually sticks close to the 2004 film.

Pittsburgh CLO’s Mean Girls Takes Over the Benedum Center

For the Pittsburgh CLO’s showing, the theater introduces a number of cast members making their Pittsburgh CLO debut. New faces to the group include Abigail Isom as Cady Heron, Landry Champlin as Regina George, Sydni Moon as Gretchen Wieners, Kaley Bender as Karen Smith, Jack Haroutunian as Damian Hubbard, Quincy Hampton as Aaron Samuels, and Rayhan Khimji as Kevin G. But, familiar faces Lyda Jade Harlan as Janis Sarkisian, Jennifer Lybarger as Ms. Heron/Ms. Norbury/Mrs. George, and Brady D. Patsy as Mr. Duvall return for Mean Girls as well. Plus, Dance Moms star Nia Sioux joins the ensemble of the cast with her talent for choreography.

More Than a Show Series Exclusives

You’ll also want to come to this run of the musical since it’s a part of the More Than a Show series. A grant through the Richard King Mellon Foundation lets the Pittsburgh CLO bring their shows to life with a schedule of interactive activities that you can take part in when you see the show.

On July 8, a Wednesday of course, take part in an Anti-Burn Book Scrapbooking Event where you’ll create your own uplifting scrapbook page. Then, on July 9, those ages eight to 18 can take part in a Dance Masterclass by a cast member that includes a ticket to the performance that evening. There’s also a Talkback with the Cast on July 9 featuring an exclusive Q&A for a behind-the-scenes look. The whole run culminates with an 18+ Spring Fling on July 11 that includes plenty of dancing, the crowning of a queen and king, and light appetizers.

But, even if you’re not taking part in the activities, you can still make it the ultimate Mean Girls day with these quote-inspired things to do, places to shop, and dishes to eat around Pittsburgh.

Get in Loser, We’re Going Shopping

Pittsburgh is one of the best cities to shop in for all its small business hidden gems. Explore our guides for each neighborhood to find boutiques, book shops, and more. Plus, if you feel like hanging around outside, Pittsburgh hosts a number of markets with artisan art, food, and fashion.

I’m Not Like a Regular Mom, I’m a Cool Mom

Don’t give these cocktails to your underage children and their friends, but do make up a batch for yourself and your mom gal-pals. Cool moms deserve a cool drink like our Regina George Cocktail. It’s sweet and fruity with gin, lemon juice, simple syrup, pomegranate syrup, and an egg white to make a foam.

On Wednesdays We Wear Pink

A perfectly Pink Whale cocktail, just the thing for Wednesdays, combines strawberry cream soda, cream of coconut, and white rum. A bit of Angostura bitters, basil leaves, and Amaro 05 cuts through the sugar to balance the flavors and keep you sipping.

Whatever, I’m Getting Cheese Fries

If you’re going to get cheese fries instead of trying to figure out how to diet, we’re with you all the way. The ultimate cheese fries in Pittsburgh come from The Potato Patch inside Kennywood but in case you don’t want to buy a ticket to the amusement park, you can check out other places around the city. Moonlit Burgers cover their thin shoe-string fries with a savory cheese sauce. D’s Six Pack & Dogz chooses to pile theirs with either cheese, ranch, and bacon or cheese, avocado, and ranch. Burghers Brewing even serves up Dirty Fries with chili, cheese sauce, pickled onion, cilantro, and roasted chilies.

Hell No, I Did Not Leave the South Side for This!

Principal Duvall may have left the South Side but you’ll want to be heading over to Pittsburgh’s South Side to explore bars, restaurants, shops, and live music. Grab a meal from Dish Osteria, take in a show at City Theater, and then head over to Tiki Lounge for a Mai Tai to end the night.

We Should Totally Just Stab Caesar!

Shakespeare would agree with Gretchen Wieners and what can we say? We live for the drama of the theater so we agree with her, too. Keep the energy of theater close to your heart after seeing Mean Girls with our calendar of must-see theater shows in 2026. Our bestie Shakespeare even makes an appearance with a staging of The Tempest

Vintage, So Adorable

Unlike Regina, we genuinely think vintage is chic and adorable. Shop through vintage shops in Pittsburgh that carry clothing and accessories from all eras and even rework pieces at times. Take home a bag or jacket that’ll have you looking right out of a magazine.

Is Butter a Carb?

Butter is not a carb, but it is a fat, so we’re combining Regina’s all-carb diet with butter to make these Hot Honey Buttermilk Biscuits. Plus the hot honey adds a fiery touch that’s much like Regina’s soul.
