Uncorked plans to jazz up Main Street in Sharpsburg. The wine bar and jazz club is the brainchild of Corey Pisarski, who worked as a bartender for Oakmont restauranteur Danny Monaco. In Oakmont, Monaco was known for Chelsea Grille and Hoffstot’s Café Monaco.
After leaving bartending, Pisarski retained a love for the industry and an interest in music. “Pittsburgh used to have a huge jazz scene. Now, there aren’t a lot of clubs in the city,” she said. So, when she heard from the building’s owner in Sharpsburg that they wanted a new bar, it inspired her to start something of her own. That dream became Uncorked.
703 Main Street formerly housed 4Four6, a craft distillery that closed in 2023. Pisarski had seen that business come and go and chalked it up to difficulty drawing in customers in the crucial opening phase during the pandemic. She hopes to draw people in the community to Uncorked. Plus, Pisarski also has loyal customers from Chelsea’s who were excited to see what she did next after that bar closed.
Uncorked to Bring Wine and Jazz to Sharpsburg
For her beverage program, Pisarski wants to focus on wines difficult to find in state-run stores or other Pittsburgh restaurants. “One of my favorite winemakers is Oberon [a winery in the Napa Valley]. I can almost never find it in Pittsburgh,” she said.
At Uncorked, she also plans to offer six beers on tap and a cocktail lineup based around each spirit. “I thought of it like having four bourbon cocktails, four gin cocktails, four tequila cocktails,” she said. “And the cocktails are going to be in line with this 1920’s theme with Old-Fashioneds and Sidecars. But a lot of my customers from Chelsea Grille are martini drinkers, so I’ll have that on the menu.”
Uncorked’s culinary offerings will be an upscale tapas and dinner menu featuring simple Mediterranean fare like beans and greens, salads, and scallops, alongside a few desserts. The bar’s music programming is booked up through the beginning of November already. Jessica Lee is one of the first to be performing in those early weeks, Pisarski said. But she hopes to book even further out once the space officially opens.
Pisarski and her team completely renovated the space, which can now seat about sixty-one people. Her bar will be filling a niche in a neighborhood that’s mostly shot-and-a-beer watering holes. She plans for an opening Friday October 18 if all goes smoothly, and Uncorked will be a welcome addition to a night out in Sharpsburg.
