Here’s your full-proof guide for every espresso martini lover in Pittsburgh.
As I close out the first year of my 30s, one of the many truths I’ve learned is: Carrie Bradshaw was really onto something with her Cosmopolitans. Sipping one makes me feel like I’m living my fullest thirty, flirty, and thriving life. Think about it: the fancy glass, the first cold sip, catching up with your friends, or, dare I say, venturing out on a date, over a martini… it really is a moment worth getting excited about. Today, I’m focusing on Espresso Martinis, which, much like a Cosmo, are a classic order at this point. Whether you like them strong, creamy, or flavored, this list is meant to help you find your next favorite sip.
Pittsburgh’s Best Espresso Martini
FL.2
510 Market Street, Downtown
Starting off strong (literally) with one of my favorite sips in the city: the Espresso Martini at fl.2. They make their very own with Tito’s, Kahlua, espresso, and butterscotch. So pretty that you’ll want to show off on the ‘Gram.
De Fer
2002 Smallman Street, Strip District
De Fer does everything so well, and they have some of the kindest staff. From their coffee program, where they roast their own coffee beans, to one of the most talked-about breakfast sandwiches, they’re worth checking out! Make note of their no-frills martini. It’s ideal as you transition from working to slamming your laptop shut: Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka, Maggie’s Farm Coffee Liqueur, espresso, and vanilla.
Acacia
2108 East Carson Street, South Side
One of my all-time favorite cocktail spots, and a true institution in the South Side, is Acacia. Whether you’re asking for a Bartender’s Choice or you’re set on the Espresso Martini, there’s no wrong order here.
The Summit
200 Shiloh Street, Mt. Washington
If you ask anyone what their favorite Espresso Martini is, odds are most will say The Summit. With a very dedicated fan base, it gets a lot of hype, and for good reason. Their take: Vanilla Vodka, Creme De Cacao, Caramel, Hazelnut, Espresso. Go for the martini, stay for the burger. Ideal date night idea, by the way…
Emerson’s
435 Market Street, Downtown
Emerson’s is one of my favorite spots, especially for a martini. The atmosphere is truly GNO coded, with the food and cocktails to match. Right now, they have a flavored espresso martini I can’t stop craving: a Banana Bread Espresso Martini with Cold Brew, Vodka, Averna, Borghetti Espresso Liqueur, Banana Liqueur, and Demerara Sugar.
