Za’atar is a popular, versatile Middle Eastern spice blend used as an accompaniment to everything from breads to veggies and dairy. Green za’atar is a combination of equal parts thyme, ground cumin, ground coriander, toasted sesame seeds, sumac, and one-half part salt. You can combine these ingredients yourself, or buy them as a mix at most Middle Eastern specialty grocers.
Atop crispy flatbread, and served with a fresh green salad and perhaps a simple bit of grilled meat or fish with a squeeze of lemon… this is a fresh, enlivening bite good for any time of year!
What’s on Our Za’atar Flatbread?
We bake this Middle Eastern flatbread with olive oil and za’atar, which dust it with a blend of herbs, spices, and sesame seeds. Crispy, golden, and aromatic, it’s perfect on its own too.
