About Shore Thing
Riverlife is getting ready to drop anchor for the return of Shore Thing. This popular floating destination consists of 10 steel barges (40 feet long and 10 feet wide each), creating 4,800 square feet of space on the Allegheny River.
In its pilot season (2025), Shore Thing welcomed more than 50,000 visitors in less than four months. The platform is free for all to access. BG Brewing returns to offer food and beverage service on board for purchase, featuring a “Pittsburgh to the Pacific” menu with Japanese‑Hawaiian elements.
Sustainability: The roof of Shore Thing’s on‑board shipping container holds 20 bifacial solar panels (9,000 watts maximum solar output, 51.2 kWh battery storage). The custom off‑grid power system was designed by Pittsburgh’s ZeroFossil.
