Pittsburgh’s Top Chefs to Share Delicious Turkey Recipes in Support of the KDKA Turkey Fund

KDKA is turning up its Turkey Fund stakes — for good reason.

Since 1982, the KDKA Turkey Fund has raised more than $22 million for Pittsburghers in need, all beginning when commentator Al Julius turned one viewer’s $10 into $10,000. The Fund has twice climbed into the $900,000s in a single year, but it has never hit seven figures.

This year, $1 million is the goal as inflation leaves families struggling to make ends meet. As part of the drive, TABLE Magazine’s favorite chefs will appear on Pittsburgh Today Live throughout November to share show-stopping turkey recipes for an ultimate Thanksgiving celebration.

“What we’re seeing across our region is sustained, elevated need, and it isn’t being driven by any one thing,” said Lisa Scales, president and CEO at Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. “The rising costs of groceries, housing, utilities and health care, combined with changes to food assistance, are all putting pressure on household budgets. For many families, this isn’t a short-term challenge.”
