Where your child goes to school is one of the biggest choices your family will make. In a sea of competing messages, Pittsburgh Public Schools is encouraging parents to start with one simple step: Get the facts.
Get the Facts on Pittsburgh Public Schools
Each day, thousands of Pittsburgh students arrive at Pittsburgh Public Schools and discover opportunities that go far beyond the classroom walls. With early childhood education, advanced academics, career and technical education, athletics, the arts, world languages and specialized student supports, PPS offers families a range of programming that few can match.
As PPS advances its Future-Ready Facilities Plan, the District’s Get the Facts campaign encourages families to explore both what PPS offers now and what’s being built for the future.

More Opportunities. More Offerings. More Support.
Pittsburgh Public Schools is Pennsylvania’s second-largest school district, and that size means something important for families: a wide variety of offerings and opportunities.
From their first days in early childhood classrooms through graduation, students have access to academic programs designed around many different interests, strengths and goals.
PPS students can dive into science, technology, engineering and mathematics; explore the arts; compete in athletics; learn world languages; take on advanced coursework; and prepare for their future careers through hands-on Career and Technical Education.
Along the way, they’re supported by teachers, counselors, social workers, nurses, specialists and other professionals who are committed to helping them thrive.
And since learning takes more than time in class, PPS offers supports that help remove barriers for students and families, including free breakfast and lunch for all students.
This is the PPS advantage: more opportunities, more pathways and more people working side by side to support every student.
Preparing Students for What Comes Next
The world is changing quickly for today’s students. So is Pittsburgh Public Schools.
The District’s focus goes beyond where students attend school to what they experience when they get there.
Guided by the Board-approved Future-Ready Facilities Plan, PPS is building a more consistent educational experience across its schools, with clearer K–5, 6–8 and 9–12 grade configurations and expanded access to programs and opportunities.
Elementary students will see stronger access to STEAM, world language and library. Middle school students will gain greater access to STEAM, world language and advanced coursework, including a pathway to Algebra I in eighth grade. And high school students will continue to benefit from robust academic, career, arts and extracurricular opportunities that prepare them for college, careers and beyond.
The aim is clear: no student’s ZIP code should determine the quality or breadth of the opportunities in front of them.

A District Full of Possibilities
Success doesn’t follow a single path, and neither does PPS.
For some students, the spark comes on a stage or in an art studio. For others, it comes in a science lab, on the field, in an Advanced Placement course or while mastering a skilled trade.
Career and Technical Education gives students hands-on, real-world skills and a chance to explore careers before they graduate. Magnet and specialized programs offer even more educational choices. Advanced academic opportunities push students who are ready for more, while academic and student support teams make sure help is there when it’s needed.
Every one of these opportunities exists within a single public school system, right here in the City of Pittsburgh.

Get the Facts About Your School
PPS understands that families have questions, especially as implementation of the Future-Ready Facilities Plan begins.
That makes getting information directly from the District more important than ever.
The District’s Find My School tool lets families look up their current school assignment as well as the school assigned to their address beginning with the 2027–2028 school year. Families can also turn to District resources to learn about the approved Future-Ready Facilities Plan, school programs, enrollment opportunities and changes ahead.
PPS isn’t just telling families, “Choose PPS.”
It’s telling them: Know what you’re choosing. Explore the programs. Ask questions. Compare the opportunities. Get the facts.
See What PPS Has to Offer
For generations, Pittsburgh Public Schools has educated the city’s children, and today’s PPS has its sights set on the future.
The District is building on what already works while making changes that expand opportunity, strengthen the student experience and better prepare every student for what lies ahead.
For families exploring their options, it starts with learning what their public schools already offer.
