About The Children’s Institute
To Heal. To Teach. To Empower. To Amaze.
Programs & Impact
From July 2025 to June 2026, The Children’s Institute accomplished significant milestones, including a new and fully accessible CI Outdoors: Therapy & Learning Center on the Squirrel Hill campus to promote play safety and enhance sensory, developmental, and physical mobility skills and abilities for students and clients.
In addition, 782 behavioral health clients were supported in clinic, school, and community environments to address mental health in the community. Family Support Services strengthened 2,068 families, with 93% of families reporting that their quality of life improved because of the services received. The Day School also incorporated a MakerSpace Innovation Lab into its curriculum to expand access to creative and vocational experiences for students in grades K-12.
Get Involved
The generous support of the community opens doors for children, youth, and families who otherwise couldn’t afford services provided by The Children’s Institute. Financial support allows the organization to continue providing and evolving the care, services, and education that are transformative for children, youth, and families.
How Support Helps
For families experiencing financial challenges, donations and other giving arrangements help to cover uncompensated care and address increasing healthcare costs. Improving healthcare access for families remains an essential component of the work and mission of The Children’s Institute.
For nearly 125 years, The Children’s Institute has stood beside children, youth, and families in Western Pennsylvania, helping them overcome challenges, discover new possibilities, and thrive.
