The family-owned Downtown Pittsburgh clothier that has dressed three generations of Pittsburghers opens its going-out-of-business sale Wednesday, Nov. 4, with 20% to 75% off everything in the store.
Larrimor’s Is Going Out of Business After 87 Years: What to Know About the Final Sale
Larrimor’s is going out of business. The family-owned designer clothing store, a Downtown Pittsburgh fixture since 1939, will hold a final sale starting Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 9 a.m., and will close for good no later than the end of December.
For 87 years, Larrimor’s has been where Pittsburgh went for a well-cut suit, a wedding outfit or a piece of fine jewelry meant to last. Its closing marks the end of one of the city’s longest-running independent retailers.

When does the Larrimor’s going-out-of-business sale start?
The sale opens Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 9 a.m. at One PNC Plaza, 249 Fifth Ave., and runs until the last piece is sold. The store will be closed Sunday through Tuesday, Nov. 1–3, while staff mark down the entire inventory.
Co-owner Lisa Slesinger’s advice is to come early. “The selection will never be better than it is on opening day,” she said.

What’s on sale at Larrimor’s
Everything, with no exclusions. Discounts run from 20% to 75% across:
- Menswear: suits, sport coats, dress shirts, sportswear and shoes
- Womenswear: clothing, outerwear, handbags and fine jewelry
- Store fixtures, which are also for sale
Designers include Zegna, Canali, Isaia, Peter Millar, Magnanni, L’Agence, Akris, Eileen Fisher, Staud and Hammitt. New fall and winter merchandise still arriving will go straight to the sale floor. All sales are final.
An 87-year Pittsburgh story
Harry Slesinger and Larry Morris opened Larrimor’s in 1939 in a 1,000-square-foot storefront in the Union Trust Building. The store stayed there for more than 70 years before moving to One PNC Plaza in 2010.
Along the way it became a destination for custom and made-to-measure menswear, women’s designer collections and on-site tailoring. In 2006, Esquire named Larrimor’s a “Best of Class” retailer, the only Pittsburgh store to receive the honor. Today the business is run by the founding family’s third generation.

What the Owners are Saying
“For 87 years, Larrimor’s has been incredibly fortunate to be part of the lives of so many people in Pittsburgh and beyond,” said co-owner Tom Michael. “This decision marks the end of an important chapter for our family, but we are incredibly grateful for the customers, employees, designers and community members who have made Larrimor’s what it is today.”
Slesinger pointed to the families who came back across decades. “We have been honored to help dress so many Pittsburgh families, often three generations of the same family,” she said.
