Shop of the Week: Buck Mason in Sewickley is a Labor of Love

Of Buck Mason’s 30+ stores across the U.S., their Sewickley location is particularly special. In 2023, husband and wife Erik Ford — CEO and co-founder — and Leanne Ford — interior designer and TV personality — combined forces to open the first Buck Mason/Leanne Ford concept store. With Erik Ford’s elevated, Americana classics and Leanne Ford’s minimalistic, cozy homegoods, you’ll get chic, high-quality upgrades for your wardrobe and your home.

The First Buck Mason/Leanne Ford Concept Store in Sewickley

Leanne Ford has been designing Buck Mason stores for years, but this was the first official collaboration between the couple. The upscale space designed and curated by her feels a mix of sleek art gallery, cozy loft, and elegant social club, all while feeling inviting and not stuffy or sterile in the slightest. A hard look to pull off, but who better than Leanne Ford and her warm, soulful interiors?

They make a perfect match for Erik Ford’s Buck Mason designs, which bring some West Coast cool to Pittsburgh — think structured modern twists on classic pieces you can dress up or down. They’re comfortable and relaxed enough for everyday, but stylish and tailored enough for a magazine cover. Ask Tom Brady — in 2015, he brought the brand national attention by wearing their shirt in his GQ Man of the Year photoshoot.

Curated Home Goods and Men’s Fashion for Every Season

The upcoming colder months bring the perfect excuse to give your closet and home a refresh. Go out in a stunning knit or jacket from Buck Mason’s classic fall collection, then curl up at home with something peaceful from Leanne Ford’s curated global favorites or gorgeous Craft & Barrel collaboration. From this store’s overall look, the clothes on display, and the selection of art, pottery, and furniture, it’s not all surprising that House Beautiful named this location one of the best home stores in America.

If you’re wondering how Sewickley got so lucky, the story behind Erik and Leanne Ford’s decision to open here is as beautiful as their designs.

In a heartfelt letter written by Erik Ford to celebrate the store’s opening, he recounted his first time in Sewickley, Leanne Ford’s hometown. When she brought him to visit in 2015, he fell in love with it while falling in love with her — “The people were genuine, the houses were old and stunning, but still, there were no pretenses,” he wrote. They spent their night in a dive bar called Pizza Roma with beer, pizza, and Maggie May on the jukebox. They didn’t know it then, but their first night in Sewickley was spent on the charming little corner that would soon become their first Buck Mason Leanne Ford store.

Why You Should Visit

This store is a labor of love in more ways than one. Erik and Leanne Ford’s work make a perfect fit — high-quality, devastatingly cool, elevated, and — chic might be the new internet buzzword, but how could you not say it here? You’ll definitely want to head over and check out incredible designs, enjoy some wine or whiskey, and put some good music on their record player — Maggie May is encouraged.
