January 13-March 3 (8 Tuesday Sessions), Contemporary Craft

Begin or deepen your quilt-making journey under the guidance of artist Sarah Silk. You’ll learn to design and create a quilt using the versatile half-square triangle as your foundation, allowing for endless traditional or contemporary patterns. This series covers the full process: designing, cutting, piecing, and finishing with binding and hand-quilting.

January 14-February 15, Benedum Center

You’ve seen the movie on the big screen, now experience the story of Wicked live on stage. Get to know the true story of Oz as you follow the unlikely friendship between two sorcery students: the green-skinned Elphaba and the popular Glinda. Their journey, long before Dorothy’s arrival, includes dazzling visuals, gorgeous harmonies, and a heartwarming story of belonging.

January 16 and 18, Heinz Hall

Mischievous, lyrical, and full of surprises, Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos dazzles with classical elegance and jazz-inspired flair. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra opens with Lotta Wennäkoski’s Flounce, followed by the Jussen Brothers’ performance of the Poulenc Double Piano Concerto. It all leads to the Sibelius’s Second Symphony finale.

January 17, Byham Theater

Embark on a pre-historic adventure with the Olivier award-winning Dinosaur World Live. This interactive, family-friendly show features remarkably life-like dinosaurs, including a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Giraffatitan, and more. You can even add on a meet and greet for your kids to get an up-close experience with these marvelous creatures.

Winterfest at The Frick Pittsburgh

January 17-18, The Frick Pittsburgh

The Frick Pittsburgh’s annual Winterfest returns for a fifth year with two days of family-friendly festivities designed to beat the post-holiday blues. This celebration offers a mix of indoor and outdoor activities including a Clayton Open House, Hot Wheels Glass Blowing, Art & History Activities, a Hot Chocolate Bar, live musical entertainment, and much more.
