The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh has served the region for more than 130 years, offering support to children, individuals, and families facing complex medical, social, and emotional challenges. Today, the organization operates six distinct programs—Adoption & Permanency, the Pediatric Specialty Hospital, Child’s Way® daycare, Therapy Services, Pediatric VIEW, and Counseling Services. These programs are designed to address identified gaps in care and provide services that may not be readily available elsewhere, continuing the organization’s long-standing commitment to meeting evolving community needs.
The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh, established in 1893, is an independent, nonprofit organization with a mission to promote the health and well-being of children, individuals, and families with complex medical, social, and emotional needs.
About The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh
Child’s Way daycare student, Cairo, was born during the pandemic with a rare condition affecting his mobility and feeding. When his family connected with The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh, everything changed. His mother received medical training and Cairo joined Child’s Way, where nurses, therapists, and teachers work together to help him thrive. Today, Cairo is strong, curious, and full of life. “We’re eternally grateful,” says his mother. “We have peace knowing he’s safe and cared for every day.”
How You Can Help
You can make a meaningful impact. By donating, volunteering, or attending events, you help sustain The Children’s Home’s six vital programs. Financial contributions support medical care and services across all programs. Volunteers provide hands-on engagement in our Pediatric Specialty Hospital and Child’s Way daycare and help with events and holiday activities. Event participation, by individuals and corporate supporters, drives fundraising and awareness. However you choose to get involved, you’re helping children, individuals, and families in our community find strength, healing, and hope.
This Giving Tuesday, The Children’s Home has a goal of raising $10,000. A donation today directly impacts children, individuals, and families by covering medical costs, providing free housing in our Family Living Center, supporting education through individualized interventions, and offering emotional support through mental health counseling. Your generosity fuels the heart of The Children’s Home, making it possible to reach more people, fill unmet needs, and ensure that every child, individual, and family can thrive.
