About the Event:
As the United States reaches its 250th anniversary, the question of what it means to be American is perhaps more fraught than ever. Rather than shying away from that tension, RealTime Arts is laying it all on the table – along with a meal.
Equitable Dinners invite strangers from diverse backgrounds to gather in living rooms over a meal, a play, and a conversation around the theme “We Hold These Truths: American Potluck.”
The Format:
-
A professionally performed 10‑minute play based on real‑life experiences gathered in community listening sessions (written by playwright Molly Rice)
-
A shared potluck‑style meal (guests bring dishes that reflect their American identities)
-
A facilitated conversation using the play as a springboard
